Fashola Farms

The Oyo State Government has commenced the process of resuscitating and transforming Fashola Farms, Oyo, and the International Cattle and Produce Market, Ogbomoso, with a view to transforming them into viable ventures for the state’s economy.

The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Mr Oyewole Oyewumi, who stated this on Tuesday, reaffirmed the readiness of the state government to partner private investors and organisations in order to revive its moribund industries.

He gave the assurance that government properties and assets would be adequately utilised.

“The essence of partnering private agro-allied companies is to ensure that government’s  existing farms serve their purposes, which include increase in food production, employment generation, training centres for self-development, among others,” a statement by Oyewumi said.

He said five bids were received from agro-allied companies which intended to partner the state government on transforming Fashola Farms and two were received for the ICPM, Ogbomoso.

He assured the people that the government would continue to provide an enabling environment for would-be investors, adding that necessary support would be given to enable them succeed.

The commissioner appealed to the seven-man technical review committee led by the Director of Veterinary Services, Oyo State, Dr Adegbite Adegunwa, to carry out the assignment given to them accordingly and present their recommendations in two weeks.
